Kiley's brother passed away at his home on Friday morning July 4th. He was bound and determined to get home from the hospital for the 4th of July weekend. Kiley picked him up from the hospital on Thursday and was planning to spend some quality time with him and his family. Their kids arrived in Utah on Wednesday evening and on Friday the 4th he had passed away. This was very hard for my sister-in-law. Rick was her little brother just 43 years old and she just lost her sister just 4 years ago to cancer as well. She loved him very much and we are so sad for thier loss. Mom, Cris, Elle and I took thier kids back to California and had the pleasure to attend this great man's funeral. Rick left quite a legacy to his family as he made a huge difference in a very quiet way. He was a partner in his accounting firm and a wonderful tribute from his partner verified his power as he told many stories of Rick's life and what he offered those he came in contact with. The most touching moment when this non-LDS partner held up the Book of Mormon that Rick had given him at a very difficult time in this man's life. He was very teary and touched that Rick would share this very important messaage with him. I want to be a little better after learning more about this amazing man. I hope that the hearts of his wife Lisa and his two children may heal quickly but I hope his memory will live on in all of us. We felt so privledged to share this time with Kiley's family. We love you all and will remember you in our every prayer.
